  1. im surprised no one has commented on these pictures yet since they are very interesting to analyze. even though both pictures are in black and white, the moods are completely different. lewis looks somewhat content and relaxed sitting over a book, slightly leaning and resting his hand on his head. his half crooked smile makes the picture twenty times more inviting than freuds. freuds picture is very hard and cold. his expression is some what frustrated and very serious. in stead of leaning he is standing up straight much less vulnerable than lewis. this makes lewis look much more human and approachable. one could argue that the reason for the difference in attitudes for the picture could be the prescience of god or lack there of in these mans lives. could lewis be a happier individual because he believes that there is a greater power and something bigger than him to look forward to in his afterlife? and the opposite for freud, does he know that life can be horrible for an array of reasons and death is inevitably there and therefore there is no use to express happiness for something that will happen regardless of beliefs?

  2. In response to Carley, i think that it could be that Lewis is a happier individual because he beleives that there is a greater power and Freud is not because he knows death is innevitable. However i think that it is also interesting that there stances do represent their standpints in the the question of God. Lewis seems more relaxed and at ease that, whereas Freud seems to be in deep thought. Freud struggled with the concept of God throughout his whole life, which is depicted by this picture.
